Bullard Media Center started day one, hour one teaching "How to Use a Library" lessons. However, I found a flaw in my lessons. They are too quick and too much information all at once. This year I will go slower and spend more time helping students find books. By stating all fiction books are on the shelf in alphabetical order, all genre's are mixed in has overwhelmed students. Seeing 3rd grade explore fiction for the first time is the neatest experience, but - they also choose the same 'silly' books over and over. This year we'll take time to walk students through the fiction section and pull out examples of great books on their reading level. If you want examples of library lessons send to me an e-mail and we'll start exchanging ideas. You need to hear how I use Adams Family theme song for genre.
