Spaghetti
By Shel Silverstein
Spaghetti, spaghetti all over the place.
Up to my elbows, up to my face.
Over the carpet and under the chairs,
Into the hammock and wound round the stairs,
Filling the bathtub and covering the desk,
Making the sofa a mad mushy mess.
The party is ruined, I’m terribly worried,
The guests have all left (unless they’re all buried).
I told them, “Bring presents.” I said, “Throw confetti.”
I guess they heard wrong
‘Cause they all threw spaghetti!
Our next unit of study will be Pasta and Pizza (along with nutrition). We will be having so much fun as we learn for the next few weeks. Some of our centers will be: ravioli vowels, macaroni spelling, listening to Strega Nona, pizza rhymes, pasta pot alphabet, counting pasta, number pizza, graphing pasta, pizza topping numbers, meatball numbers and many more. Our home living area has been turned into an Italian restaurant. Our sand and water table has flour and measuring equipment.
We continue to learn letters and letter sounds and sight words. I will be sending home another handwriting sheet. If you can, have your child practice the correct formation of the letters. The arrows will show the starting place. For the next few weeks we will concentrate on numbers 0-10, counting, and ordinal numbers.
Thank you again for sending in the cooking supplies. This is absolutely the favorite center of every week!
Remember next week is conference week. Students are dismissed at .
Picture retake is October 17th.
Thanks so much,
Lori
