A       Attendance-  If your child is ill, please send in an excuse the next day.  If your child is tardy, you must sign in at the front office.

          Allergies-  Please let your child’s teacher know about any allergies your child may experience.

          Art-  Mr. Price is our art teacher.

B       Book Orders-  These will be sent home by your child’s teacher.  You are under no obligation to purchase.  Checks must be made out to the book club.  NO CASH CAN BE ACCEPTED!

C       Character Education-  New character words are taught each week.

          Counselors-  Classroom guidance services and individual guidance needs are available through our counselor. Our Bullard counselors are Lucille Carlisle and Dana Gillilan,.

          Conference Week-  October 24-28 is our only conference week.  The children will dismiss early this week.  Please sign the sibling sheet so conferences can be scheduled back to back with siblings. 

D       Dismissal-  Please notify your child’s teacher in writing if there are any changes in the regular dismissal process.  These notes should be placed in your child’s daily folder.  Transportation notices should NOT be placed on the teacher’s voice mail or email.

E       Expectations-  Please have your child to school on time each day.  The children are expected to treat each other with respect and follow certain classroom procedures and rules here at school.

          Empower-  Help your children build self-esteem by having them do age appropriate things by themselves.  For instance, allow your children to walk to class by themselves, teach them to tie their shoes, and make sure they know their birthday, phone number, and address

 F       Field Trips-  We will plan a variety of trips during this year to supplement our educational program.

          Folders-  Please check your child’s folder each evening and return it to school each morning.

G      GKIDS-  This is a year long assessment to help us monitor your child’s progress in school.

H      Handwriting-  Cobb County will be teaching the Zaner Bloser style of writing this year.  A sample of this style is being sent home.  Please help your child learn to write his/her name with the first letter capital and the remaining letters lowercase.  Any practice with forming the letters correctly is helpful!

          Home and School-  Working together we can make great things happen!

I        Identify-  Please mark your child’s belongings with first and last name (i.e. book bags, lunch boxes, jackets).

J       Juggling-  Our busy day calls for flexible scheduling.  We know that you will be flexible, too.

          Join-  Our PTSA can use you.  Please consider joining and assisting our hard working PTSA in obtaining 100% membership.

K      Kindergarten is fun and exciting!

 L       Lunch-  Students  $1.65                                           Extra milk  $0.50

                       Adults or non-student guest  $2.75            Ice cream   $0.60           

Please write your child’s teacher’s name on the memo portion of the check.  It would be most helpful if you send a note to the teacher on the days your child may use money on account to purchase ice cream.

L.I.F.T.-  This is an educational brain-based sing-along that stands for  Learning Is Fun Time.  The entire kindergarten will gather in the cafeteria about twice a month and learn with singing and movement.

 M      Math-  Manipulatives are often used to develop math skills.  You may see very few math sheets sent home.

          Music-  The children will visit Mrs. Oden for music.

          Money-  Please put any money sent to school in an envelope and label it with your child’s name.

          Medicine-  Please take all medications directly to the clinic.

Media Center-  Kindergarteners will have the opportunity to go to the media center during our specials rotation this year.  They will check out one book at a time.  Mrs. Lamothe is our media specialist.  Books must be returned before a new one may be checked out. 

 N       Newsletters-  Please check your child’s folder for school news.  Newsletters may be sent home via the folder, email, or teacher blogs.

          Nametags-  All visitors are required to register at the front office.  If you do not have a nametag, you will be stopped and asked to return to the main office to obtain one.

          Nurse-  Our nurse is Caroline Brodeur.

 O      Outside Breaks-  Outside breaks will be provided each day.  Please send in jackets as the weather changes to allow your child to be comfortable outside.

 P       Positive Discipline-  This philosophy allows children to develop self-control, cooperation, and responsibility for their own behavior.

          P.E.-  Ms. Wolfe and Ms. Pietrangelo provide physical education instruction.

 Q      Questions-  Please let us know of any questions you may have.

          Quiet-  Quiet time is essential for good mental well-being.

 R       Read, read, read!!

          Report Cards-  We will send report cards home to update your child’s progress every nine weeks.

 S       Success-  Success is desired for each child in kindergarten.

          Sneakers-  Sneakers are necessary on P.E. days (and also on Super 7 days).  

T       Technology-  Mrs. Hicks will teach the children in computer lab as part of our specials rotation. 

U       Uniqueness-  Your child’s uniqueness makes him/her very special to us. 

V       Volunteers-  Volunteers help directly assist the educational process. 

W      Weapons-  No weapons of ANY SORT are allowed on school property.  This includes toys or pretend weapons.  We do not “play guns” at school.  Your child may risk suspension if he/she brings any weapons to school.  This includes pocket knives and toy guns.         

X       “X”tra Special-  Your child is “X”tra special to us! 

Y       You-  You are also special to us.  Thank you for allowing us to partner with you as we develop your child’s education. 

Z       Zip, Tie, and Button-  Essential skills!  Please practice these each day!!  Personal information such as phone number, address, and birthday should also be practiced regularly.
