Second and Third Grade Economy
In the Money Matters unit the students will begin by learning the history on money. Each student will be assigned an occupation and the number of children in their family. Students encounter living expenses, medical bills and grocery bills. Each must provide for his/her family based on a set salary. Students will learn how to budget, how to write checks and how to balance a checkbook. When creating a budget, each student will have to make money management decisions based on his/her salary. In addition, he/she will research and present on his/her career.
Fourth and Fifth Grade Sharks
Predators of the Aquatic Biome is an interdisciplinary gifted unit on oceanography, biology and environmental science. By increasing a student’s knowledge of life in the underwater biome, he/she will gain a better understanding, a different perspective and a greater appreciation for the shark’s symbiotic relationships in this habitat.
