I hope everyone is enjoying the cool weather. As we head into the fall season, I have a couple of reminders for parents:
1. Please do not send any medication with your child. Medication needs to be brought in by a parent or guardian. We don't want to take the chance that another child could accidentally get a hold of the medicine.
2. Also, a Cobb County form is attached to my blog so that you may download the form and fill it out at home. This way you can bring the form in when you bring the medicine to the clinic.
3. Prescription meds such as an inhaler or epi-pen may be carried by a child at school. However, there needs to be a special form signed by the doctor giving permission for this. I am planning to have this form on my blog in the near future. For now you can come in the clinic for one or call me and I will be glad to send it home with your child. If I don't have this form on file, the medicine will need to be kept in the clinic.
4. With cooler weather unfortunately we do get ill children. Please remember that Cobb County Protocol states:
A student needs to stay home if there is a fever or vomiting. Your child may return to school if it has been 24 hrs since the last vomiting episode or fever. With a fever, they also must be fever free without taking fever reducers such as tylenol or motrin.
A child that is not well can cause two things to occur. One is that they can spread the illness to other children and two they can come back and pick up another illness because their immune system hasn't had the time to recover. So please make sure your child is completely over their illness before letting them return to school.
Thanks so much for your cooperation,
Ms Caroline
