Six Flags Reading Club

Please remember to send in your child's Six Flags Reading Club form signed by February 1.

Happy New Year!!

It is so good to be back!  I am ready for another amazing semester full of educational fun!

Six Flags Reading Club information went home today in your child's folder.  All forms are due on or before February 1.

Report cards will go home tomorrow.  Please sign and return the white card in the gold envelope on Tuesday.

There is no school on Monday.  One of our standards is about Martin Luther King, Jr.  See if your child can tell you about him!

Friday, January 27, will be the 100th day of school!  This is an exciting milestone for kindergarteners.  We will be celebrating all day with special activities in each of the kindergarten classrooms.

Things you can work on at home:  tying shoes, sight words, money, writing numbers correctly, learning phone number and address

Good-bye 2011!

It's hard to believe that another year has just about passed.  For me, the first half of the school year has flown by!  Our class party was awesome...thanks to our wonderful room moms!  It was so nice to see many of you there.

We will resume school on January 10.  The children have grown so much already, and I can't wait to see their growth next semester!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed having the kids at home for the week.  I know I did!  But it is good to be back. 

We have had a busy November, and I don't think things will slow down until January! 

We are excited for our field trip to see The Nutcracker on December 6.  We are lucky to have one of the dancers come to Bullard tomorrow and talk with the children!

LIFT

About twice a month all of the kindergarten classes get together in the morning for what we call "LIFT".  LIFT stands for "Learning is Fun TIme".  We gather in the cafeteria to move and sing songs that help us learn.  Two teachers are on the stage leading the group.  We make sure to cross our mid-line to help make connections between the two parts of our brain. 

Picture Retakes

October 21 will be picture retake day.  If you were not happy with the pictures you ordered, you may send them back to school on Friday, October 21, and your child will have his/her picture retaken.  If your child was absent on picture day, he will have his picture taken that day. 

Sorting Day

The kindergarten teachers put together a Sorting Day for all kindergarteners last Friday, October 14.  Each teacher took one of our sorting standards and created a lesson.  The classes rotated through all 7 rooms and participated in each of the lessons.  We had a lot of fun and the kids did a great job for all of the teachers.

Conferences

Conference week will be October 24-28.  Students will be dismissed 2 hours early each day that week.  If you child needs to go home a different way than usual, please send in a note.  Be on the lookout for your conference date and time.  Please sign and send back the bottom of the sheet.
