Happy May!

We are very  busy this month! Our units include plants, subtraction, summer safety, blends, and reading with expression. We will be learning about Memorial Day and Independence Day and are looking forward to our visit from the "Bee Man". Also, we are anxiously waiting for "hatch day"!

Thursday, May 6th- Mother's Day Tea- 12:15- 1:30 in our classroom- Don't forget to RSVP

Friday, May 7th- all library books due

Monday, May 10th- Parent Volunteer Appreciation Brunch- This is for you and all you have done this year! It will be held in the media center and is "drop in" from 9-10:30am.

Wednesday, May 12th- Bee Man Visit- Please return the signed permission slip and $2 donation

Friday, May 21st- Last day of Kindergarten!

Friday, May 28th- report cards mailed (Six Flags tickets will be mailed with the report cards if your child earned one)

Happy Spring! We are excited about the warm weather and our new units of study. We will be learning about insects, consonant blends, addition and continue to work on developing our stories to include a beginning, middle, and end. We will also be learning ways to help take care of our Earth.

March News

Dear Parents,

We welcome March and look forward to warmer weather! We will begin this month with a tribute to Dr. Seuss by celebrating his birthday on Tuesday, March 2th. We will wear our pajamas to school and read many different Dr. Seuss books. We will also have a special guest reader.

Wednesday March 10th is an Early Release Day with dismissal beginning at 12:10pm. Our schedule will be changed and we will be eating sack lunches in our room.

Report cards will be sent home Thursday, March 18th. Please sign and return the signature card and contact me if you have any questions.

We look forward to a special field trip to Kennesaw Mountain High school on March 24th. Their drama department is presenting a children's play called The Invisible Dragon, and we will be out of the building from 9:30 -11:30 am. The performing arts donation that you made at the beginning of the year helps to cover the cost of this field trip.

    Spring pictures will be made March 31st. Class and individual pictures will be taken at this time.

February News

We are looking forward to February and learning about dental health, President’s Day, national symbols, money, light, and the digraphs /sh/ /ch/ /wh/ /th/.

I sent a note earlier about valentine cards. Please have your child sign the backs of their valentine cards only. We will be making our card holders in class and they can bring them anytime that week.

 Please make note of the following dates:

·     Friday, Feb. 12^th- Valentine Centers and Jump Rope for Heart

·     Monday, Feb.15^th- No School- Teacher Inservice day- President’s Day

·     Friday, Feb. 19^th- Six Flags Reading Logs due- You will receive a

    FREE ticket to Six Flags if you participate! (Tickets will be sent home at the end of the school year.)

 

We need your help for a project! Please send in two pictures of your child. We need one picture of your child as a baby or toddler and one current picture. Any size 4x6 or smaller is fine, and the pictures will be returned.

January News

WELCOME BACK and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The students return on Tuesday, January 5th. This month we will focus on blending sounds, recognizing numbers 10-30, recognizing coins and their values, and reading winter stories. We will also be learning about winter animals and their habits.

Before the break you received a recording sheet for Six Flags. Please record the number of minutes you read to your child or they read to you. Your child can earn a FREE ticket to Six Flags to be used next summer.

Monday, January 18th- No School in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. day

Wednesday, January 20th- In School Field Trip - "Friendship Adventure"- a free presentation sponsored by Ronald McDonald

January 23rd- January 29th- CONFERENCE WEEK- The children will be dismissed at 12:10 each day for conferences. I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss your child's progress! You will receive your child's report card at our conference.

We had a great Thanksgiving feast with Mrs. Larkin's Indians! We are looking forward to a busy December learning about gravity, the Statue of Liberty, three dimensional shapes, and word families.

Please check the December calendar for our specials schedule, and please make note of the following important dates:

• December 3rd- SeeSaw book orders due if interested (send a note if you want me to send them home "under cover")
• December 7th- 11th- Send in Stocking Stuffers sometime this week (refer to note sent home)
• December 10th- The Nutcracker Ballet- We will leave after lunch and return around 1:30pm. Please return permission slip and payment by December 4th.
• December 15th- Class Holiday Party -more information to follow
• December 17th- Chick-Fil-A night (Our class won the  ice cream party again!)
• December 18th- last day before winter break

OCTOBER NEWS

Fall is here! We are looking forward to learning about the changing season and enjoying the nice weather. Please make note of the folllowing important dates:

• Wed. Sept. 30th- Picture day for Kindergarten
• Sat. Oct.3rd- Fall Festival 2-5 pm- Bring a canned good for admission and enjoy the games and fun with your Bullard friends!
• Thurs. Oct. 15th- Report Cards come home- Please sign and return the signature card. Tonight is Chick-fil-a night. In September we had the most participation and won an ice cream party!
• Wed. Oct. 21st- EARLY RELEASE DAY- The children are released at 12:10 and have sack lunches in the classroom that day.
• Tues. Oct. 27th- High Touch/High Tech In School Field Trip- more information will be sent home
• Fri. Oct. 30th- Fall Centers- watch for information from the room moms

I enjoyed talking with you at Open House! We have a busy year ahead!

September 7th- Labor Day- no school

September 21st- Sorting Day- We will rotate through all of the Kindergarten classes and participate in many different sorting activities that meet our math standards.

September 24th- Picture day for grades k-2

Open House

Open House for Kindergarten will be held Monday, August 31st at 6:30 pm. We will meet in the cafeteria for some general Kindergarten information, and then be adjourned to our classroom where I will be discussing many topics about our classroom and curriculum. I hope to see everyone there!
